Following her never ending hunger.

Following her never ending hunger.
the happy chef.

As my grandma would say — if you can read, you can cook.

My husband rolls his eyes when I start a sentence with “you know what I’m thinking” because he knows without a doubt it’s food. I’m thinking about what I just ate, what I’m eating next and what I’m going to make in a week. In my family, we talk about the meals we ate on a vacation 10 years ago in great detail. It’s like we ate there only last week. I love everything that comes with the experience of food —searching for new recipes, planning my take-out orders days in advance and talking with friends about what they are making. Whether it’s fine dining, home cooked or fast food, I’m all in.

This is a love letter from my kitchen to all those who have inspired and taught me. This resource is born out of the love for cooking I shared with my Grandma Honey, mom and husband. My feisty Grandma Honey, who would send me recipes (and menus from local Chinese restaurants) via snail mail at college. It’s for my adventurous Mother; who loves to try new recipes and who taught me to take complete and utter control of the kitchen. My encouraging husband, who is a “eat to live” person and married a “live to eat” type. Like many people, he continues to struggle with dietary issues. Over the years I decided to look at the on-again off-again restrictions as a challenge to create delicious meals that fit within whatever restrictions we are currently facing. I believe it’s taught me how to be adaptable and flexible in the kitchen. I’ve become better at adapting recipes to suit his needs and my taste buds.

My goal for this resource is to share recipes that are easy, accessible for starter cooks (ahem, my sister) and tips to make the process more efficient. I also want to share lessons I’ve learned, eco-friendly products I use and food I love.

Happy cooking!
